Final Glaze
Pouring an ochre glaze over a finished panel and tilting it until it stops.
Finishing · 04:55The panel in this film is already finished — every layer of ground, drawing and relief work is complete — and what's left is a single pour of ochre glaze across the top edge, tilted by hand until gravity finishes the composition. Ariesson controls the pour with small movements of the whole panel rather than the cup, so the glaze finds its own path through the texture built up underneath. The film ends the moment he sets the panel flat and stops touching it.
Materials Used
Ochre pigment glaze, linseed medium, finished ground and relief panel.
The Finished Piece
Gold Pour, Final State
This is the pour that produced Gold Pour V — the glaze settled exactly along the carved ridges left from an earlier relief session.
